Espiroqueta fina y helicoidal, visible en microscopía de campo oscuro (no se tiñe con Gram).

Interpretación

Treponema pallidum causa la sífilis, con fases primaria (chancro), secundaria y terciaria.

Perla clínica

Demasiado fina para el Gram: se ve en campo oscuro o por serología (VDRL/RPR y pruebas treponémicas). Responde a la penicilina.
