Hallazgos

Espiroqueta grande y laxa, visible en frotis de sangre (a diferencia de otras espiroquetas).

Interpretación

Borrelia burgdorferi causa la enfermedad de Lyme (transmitida por garrapatas); B. recurrentis, la fiebre recurrente.

Perla clínica

La enfermedad de Lyme empieza con el eritema migratorio ('diana'). Es de las pocas espiroquetas visibles en el frotis sanguíneo con Giemsa.
