This patient underwent hysterectomy for "fibroids." Hallazgos

Nódulos firmes, bien delimitados, blanquecinos, con superficie de corte 'arremolinada' (whorled); únicos o múltiples en el útero.

Interpretación

Leiomioma (mioma): tumor benigno de músculo liso uterino; el tumor más frecuente de la mujer.

Perla clínica

El patrón arremolinado al corte es característico. Sensible a estrógenos (crece en el embarazo, regresa en la menopausia). Malignización a leiomiosarcoma muy rara.
