Hallazgos

Vellosidades coriónicas con eje de estroma y vasos fetales, revestidas por citotrofoblasto (interno) y sincitiotrofoblasto (externo), bañadas por sangre materna.

Interpretación

Placenta: interfase de intercambio materno-fetal; el sincitiotrofoblasto produce hCG y hormonas.

Perla clínica

La barrera placentaria adelgaza a término (predomina el sincitio). Los nudos sincitiales aumentan con la madurez; el trofoblasto produce hCG (base del test de embarazo).
